Going to college could be an exciting and fun experience for almost every student, but the main reason why you are there is to learn and gain more knowledge to gain skills for the workforce tomorrow. This will not only help you to do well in college but it will also help you to still enjoy your social life as well.
Before you can do well in college, the first thing you really have to do is to pick out your classes wisely. It is best to have a path in mind before you pick your classes. You don't want to be in classes that you are not going to be interested in. If you are doing a A.A degree, it is okay to explore, but don't take random classes out of the blue. This is just to allow you pick out the right class, right?
When you must have done that, the next thing will be to start going to class. This may sound weird, but do you know that there are student who are rarely seen in class? So, you have to attend every class, else what are you there for? And why did you pay your tuition?All the professor will care if you just attend, they don't care if you are paying attention. If you are a conservative that don't agree with the liberal beliefs that most educators have, you can zone out or take online.
How to do well in college
The next step will be to make all effort to read your books especially text books. Most of the bulk of the classes are in the books. Going to class is just a time for the professor to preach their ideas on that subject and clarify what is in the text. You will be tested on the book, right and thatís how you can do well in college. If you read the books and pay halfway attention in class, quizzes and tests will be easy. If you slack off, there's nothing other than cramming.
Try to do assignments and make sure you hand them. There is nothing strange in college assignments. Most assignments are just a one page analysis of what you had learned. They usually grade on effort and if you get the main concept, you'll get full credit. A lot of assignments are a pass/fail method so if you hand it in, you'll get credit.
Another approach of college life is to get to know few students in school of in your class. They may be helpful when you have been partying last night and missed class. Then you can have a buddy that can back you up. You might make new friends too.
When in college, itís always advisable to get to know most of your professor. If you get to know your professor, you can get a little more personal with this person and he might help you succeed when you need support. Who knows, some professors make GREAT FRIENDS. Then you can e-mail, call, text, or Facebook your professor when needed.
It is best to review notes, your book, labs, case studies from time to time. If you generally do well in the class, you'll get a good grade on the final and the certification exam. Try to schedule your classes that are closet to your lifestyle. Are you a morning person or an afternoon person? Would you like to have four day weekends? Is that professor hot? Try to schedule your classes if you can to fit your lifestyle and thatís how you deal college life.
